Last Call - Bachelor of Visual Art 2019
level 7 / year 3
As I have reached my final day SIT Creative centre on Don Street, Invercargill I feel happy to have completed the year with a final exhibition, essays and talks now done.
I think overall that I have successfully answered my questions related to this years theme of Creative Play, Visual Narratives and Installations.
Viewer reception formed a major part of the body of work as I wanted to take my work to a broad audience.
The making and creating of the work has been one of discovery, joy and sleepless nights at times as the creative brain plays with the objects it loves - thanks Carl Jung!
To keep a focus on a year long project and slices for Theory and History has been challenging at times, the shear amount of objects collected became a temporary side project that I abandoned - but I think in the end I am satisfied of what has been written and displayed.
My internship at The Activity Centre has been inspiring and very challenging at times working with students who all have learning issues. Being creative is one way they can express themselves in a positive way. This internship has helped my connect with younger people and a small taster of what being a tutor is about. To lead and guide and encourage but never to dominate or demand work from them.
The project I ended up calling 'Tango Mango and the Poogies' is one that I would like to further explore in the medium of stop motion and a published book or e-book.
