BVA316 & BVA313 Studio Practice & Theory 19 September 2019 - Workshop Proposal - updated 23/9/19
Write up a project proposal for something that relates to you and your practice
•Identify stakeholders, collaborators, and who will benefit from your project
•Select at least one body from whom you would like funding (not possible as my workshop is assessed as part of my third year requirements) but going forward Creative NZ Communities if this one is successful - I will look at ways it could be done better or differently etc at the completion of the workshop, via a feedback from and discussion with participants.
•Draw up a budget - none for this one, it will be free of charge - but required for future workshops
The Proposal
What? A recycled assemblage Creative fun day
When? Saturday ??? TBA
Where? Studio101 , 25 Don Street, Invercargill
Time: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm BYO lunch - 1 hour lunch break
Why? To provide a creative platform for Invercargill creatives to connect, collaborate, inspire and make assemblage art work from a combination of objects.
Who? 10 ideally would suit although if there was sufficient interest perhaps 12 - all ages - ideally old enough to join a mixed age group - this type of workshop could appeal to mum's and daughters, grandmas and granddaughters - individuals - any age (if it is funded in the future the focus age demographic will be under 18 years - who can be assisted by a caregiver if needed or support person)
How Many Attendees? Up to 10 -12 (more than this number means limited space in Room 101, )
Cost? Free (as discussed with Kathryn, I have plenty of spare materials and collected items - own supplies of glue gun, glue - can use some of my student budget if needed)
Methodology of delivery of project:
Give a handout and spoken introduction to the workshop telling them about my own practice. Show them some of my assemblage work and explain my studio practice. As it is in my current studio space I can show some of my work.
Help, I'm drowning in collected art supplies! Let me share them in a one day workshop about how to use objects to create bespoke art works and teach how to combine unusual and juxtaposed objects that might otherwise end up as landfill. Be like Alice - think of six impossible things before breakfast - bring six objects to combine and embellish at my discover, make and take workshop. Learn how to up-cycle instead of land-filling crafty bits and pieces and interesting things lying about or tucked away. Be inspired by fellow creatives and make individual or collaborative art.
Stakeholders and who will benefit from my workshop:
Any age but it is hoped that there will be some younger people - to teach about the use of recycled and up-cycled materials - suitable for beginners who want to try something creative - hopefully this will be a starting point for them to try at home.
