Media - mixed assemblage

Themes of their work - works seals in the memories in
little bottles that also contain lights.

  • How it relates to you and your practice  - I like the idea of sealing in a memory - a way to store something.  the hanging bottles are visually effective for a viewer, a tangible way to see something that is usually only a memory.

21_21 Design Sight is a museum in Roppongi in Minato, Tokyo, Japan, which opened in 2007. The museum, a design museum, was created by architect Tadao Ando and fashion designer Issey Miyake.Wikipedia

21_21 DESIGN SIGHT is a venue to redirect our eyes to everyday things and events, and create various proposals and communicate numerous discoveries from the design point of view. Our aim is to promote understanding and interest in design by involving designers, company people, engineers, craftsmen, and the general public.
21_21 DESIGN SIGHT holds exhibitions devoted to the theme of "everyday life" with multidirectional programs such as talks and workshops; visitors can be exposed to the pleasures of design and have new experiences filled with surprises. Uniquely most of these exhibitions are directed by designers.
Design is a way of making life fun and rich as well as expanding the potential of people's thoughts and actions. Design is not only about something that can be seen, but also helps build human-to-object or human-to-human relationships. 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT is the hub where the future of design as culture is discovered and created.

Kyoto International Manga Museum - Japan

What is so interesting about this museum is that it is a collaboration between Kyoto City and Kyoto Seika University to protect and preserve Manga material, research into Manga culture and is a place to hold exhibitions and house collections. By 2016 it housed some 300,000 items highlighting the strength of the culture and movement as an art genre.

The relevance to my practice is the creation of characters and how they are drawn, My drawings and art are generally of an illustrative nature so I can relate to this style of work and culture. The collection of 50,000 books is useful in my collecting and curating of materials - even though it is different. and very commercial it is still a library / gallery space and a place for people to view the collections.
