16 July 2020 things have been a bit quiet during the break but I am still creating and making. Catlin's Bush Fairy As a side project, a break from my project work and having some clay that needed using I made a little diorama scene with a fairy character.  I don't really go for those sugary type fairy creatures all pink and cute.  This little chap is of the New Zealand bush.  I have documented the process for reference.  Wire armature not done the normal way, pieces were connected with skewers and pieces of wire then the wing frames added.  The wing frames gave stability and made the posing easier.  The body is all clay without bulking material such as foil, this was because of the small size and time to bake estimated 135 degrees C for half an hour. As per the photos I began with a bust and built from there, I wanted the fairy to have character so made him look ancient and to be unique I added side burns and a series of plats in his hair.  Tw...
