Arts and Crafts Movement - threatened by the advances of technology - Victorian Albert Museum. William Morris - wallpaper and textile designer - one of the most prolific artists of his day. Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood  Victorian Revolutionaries - opposition to the Royal Academy's promotion of Renaissance Master Raphael. Exhibition One - Raw Gallery 12 April 20109 Promotional Poster for exhibition My poster for my installation - to invite the viewer in and give a tension and atmosphere to my work within the cabinet space.  Parsley the Poogie  happily goes about his business unaware of any danger..... Victor's gang - left to right : Victor Barco, Oscar Puggles and Johnny Zulu  - sitting on top shelf in aggressive and  confrontational poses. The Poogies world, not completely satisfied with this part - I removed the fur toys and just kept the two purple and green Poogies - I need to get busy and make more Poogies to scale and be part of the dogs world. Bottom layer - the plastic rubbish and human faces - representing what past humans had done to their world.  This needs work - suggested at critiques that I could add some Poogies collecting rubbish etc. First set up - without easel and poster on top of cabinet.   Adde...

  A Frenchman who spent almost his entire working life in Rome, Nicolas Poussin is considered the founder of the French  classical tradition . He specialized in scenes from the Bible, ancient history, and mythology and his canvases are revered for their narrative intensity and their rational and ordered approach to composition. Poussin is admired for his strong use of color and his inclination to prioritize the cerebral over the emotional. He was able to demonstrate that art could be an intellectual pursuit and through his layering of meaning he produced paintings of extraordinary dramatic depth and allegorical complexity. Towards the latter part of his career, Poussin's art submitted to a further transformation as he diversified to depict landscapes and a series of pantheistic allegories that were expressed through the harmonious forces of nature.
